About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Counselling and Mental Health Officer to join our team at University Centre Leeds. As a key member of our student support team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality mental health and counselling services to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one counselling and mental health support to students, working within a multi-disciplinary team to offer in-person and remote support where appropriate.
  • Manage a caseload of students requiring ongoing assistance, providing time-limited counselling, support, and regular review of support needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies and organisations to establish effective working relationships and ensure students have access to appropriate support and care packages.
  • Provide guidance to staff on student mental health issues and design and deliver mental health training and development courses for staff.
  • Liaise with other areas of the Student Support team regarding ongoing support needs for students who disclose other support needs.
About You
  • Professional qualification in counselling at Diploma level 4 or above or equivalent mental health professional practice qualification.
  • Registered member of BACP or other relevant body, or willing to register.
  • Previous experience of offering counselling services and delivering mental health and wellbeing services or counselling in a college or other educational environment.
