About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Counselling and Mental Health Officer to join our Student Support team at Leeds City College. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality mental health and counselling services to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-person and remote counselling and mental health support to students, working within a multi-disciplinary team to offer a comprehensive support service.
  • Manage a caseload of students requiring ongoing assistance, providing time-limited counselling, support, signposting, and regular review of support needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies and organisations to establish effective working relationships and ensure students have access to appropriate support and care packages.
  • Liaise with other areas of the Student Support team regarding ongoing support needs for students who disclose other support needs.
  • Provide guidance to staff on student mental health issues and design and deliver mental health training and development courses for staff.
Requirements
  • Professional qualification in counselling at Diploma level 4 or above or equivalent mental health professional practice qualification.
  • Registration with a relevant professional body, such as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
  • Previous experience of offering counselling services and delivering mental health and wellbeing services or counselling in a college or educational environment.
