Job Title: Graduate Research Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Graduate Research Software Engineer to join our team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). As a Graduate Research Software Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and maintenance of our research software systems, working closely with our team of experts to design, implement, and deploy cutting-edge software solutions.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or final-year student to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative software solutions for energy research. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, from developing new software tools to maintaining and enhancing existing systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and deploy software solutions for energy research
  • Work closely with our team of experts to develop and maintain research software systems
  • Contribute to the development of new software tools and technologies
  • Maintain and enhance existing software systems
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and prioritize software development projects
Requirements
  • Achieved, or be on course to achieve, a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant field of study
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK at time of starting employment
  • Interest or experience in software development
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to build positive working relationships with a range of colleagues at different levels of seniority
  • Effective management of digital objects, either in a personal or educational setting
