About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our team as a Community Support Specialist. As a key member of our Safer Ageing programme, you will play a vital role in promoting safer ageing and preventing abuse among older adults.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Promote the work of Hourglass Northern Ireland and raise awareness of issues related to safer ageing and abuse.
  • Maintain regular contact with older adults through phone calls or visits, providing support and guidance when needed.
  • Act as an advocate for older adults, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights respected.
  • Provide casework support to individuals concerned about the abuse of older adults, making referrals to relevant agencies and providing information and advice.
Requirements:
  • A strong understanding of the experiences and issues affecting older adults.
  • Reliable and able to commit to agreed hours, including initial training.
  • Demonstrate patience, sensitivity, and resilience when interacting with older adults.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal appropriately with sensitive issues.
