Cell Expression and Engineering Opportunity

We are seeking a Cell Expression and Engineering Scientist to contribute to the development of next-generation cell expression platforms at Lonza. This exciting opportunity involves contributing to the delivery of new CHO-based mammalian expression hosts and vector systems for the expression of complex therapeutic proteins.

About the Role

You will be responsible for exploring innovative ideas to optimise the cell line development (CLD) process, leveraging state-of-the-art automation equipment, novel technologies, and more. You will also lead several collections of projects from design and execution to data analysis and presentation, collaborating with cross-functional groups to deliver solutions or improvements in recombinant protein expression and support commercialisation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the development of new mammalian expression hosts and vector systems.
  2. Explore innovative ideas to optimise the CLD process.
  3. Lead several collections of projects from design and execution to data analysis and presentation.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional groups to deliver solutions or improvements in recombinant protein expression and support commercialisation.
  5. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in cell engineering and expression technologies.

Requirements

  • PhD degree/Postdoctoral fellow with relevant experience in an R&D setting or BSc/Masters with relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in mammalian cell line development and implementation/development of automation for cell line screening and optimisation.
  • Proficiency in CHO cell culture, stable transfection, single cell isolation, clonal expansion, and small-scale bioreactors.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary Estimate: £72,500 - £92,500 per annum
