Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). As a key member of our sales and marketing team, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth and developing strategic partnerships with clients in the conferences and events industry.
About the Role
- Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue from conferences, meetings, and events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key business partners, clients, and competitor venues to stay informed on market trends and maximize opportunities.
- Attend and exhibit at trade shows, networking events, and industry forums to promote ICE and generate new business leads.
- Work closely with the marketing team to attract customers through targeted market segmentation and effective sales campaigns.
- Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly sales reports to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Support and develop junior sales staff, providing mentoring and guidance to enhance their proactive sales skills and ensure sales targets are met.
- Liaise with the events and revenue management teams to ensure smooth handover of sales bookings and maintain high standards of customer service throughout the client journey.
Requirements
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within the events, hospitality, or conference sectors is essential.
- A proactive sales mindset with a focus on achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present professionally to clients and internal stakeholders.
- A passion for delivering exceptional customer service, combined with the ability to understand and respond to client needs.
- A strong understanding of the MICE market and the ability to stay informed on industry trends and competitor activity.
- Background using Rendezvous, Fidelio, or Delphi diary systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Able to travel when required for trade shows, client meetings, and industry events.
