Housing Officer Role

Portsmouth City Council is seeking a skilled Housing Officer to join our team. As a key member of our housing services team, you will be responsible for managing social housing tenancies, allocating properties, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage rent payments, tenancy agreements, and property allocations
  • Provide budgeting advice and assistance to tenants
  • Support tenants in meeting their responsibilities as outlined in their tenancy agreement
  • Represent the local authority at Court hearings
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and agencies to achieve housing goals
Requirements:
  • Experience in building positive relationships with customers
  • Ability to provide help and support to customers to enable them to meet their responsibilities as tenants
  • Competence in Microsoft software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Effective communication and public speaking skills
  • Access to a car daily to support customers effectively
