Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual for the position of Institute Business and Research Manager for the Cardiovascular and Genomics Research Institute (CGRI) at St George's University of London.

The successful candidate will have experience of both research and operational management and will have the ability to manage and resolve complex situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new initiatives to facilitate research collaborations and assist with fostering a research-intensive and business-minded culture to increase income.
  • Oversee an area of operational administration including line management responsibilities across the Research Institutes.
  • Work with the Institute Director and Section Heads to promote the profile of the Institute.
  • Manage and resolve complex situations.

Requirements

  • Experience of administrative management in a research/academic setting or business setting.
  • Experience of research project co-ordination including monitoring the preparation of and management of funding applications, budgets, and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of financial/budgetary management and reporting systems, with ability to interpret and summarise data accurately.
  • Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to work independently, adapt quickly, prioritise tasks, manage conflicting deadlines, and resolve problems.
  • Ability to work, communicate and collaborate with individuals from varying disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.

About the Role

This role is crucial in the facilitation and implementation of the institute strategic objectives.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of managers working together to provide support across the four research institutes.
