Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Assurance: Perform quality assurance on archived websites and social media posts to a high standard of accuracy in a time-sensitive web archiving project.
  • Problem Reporting: Provide feedback to MirrorWeb about problems found with the quality of archived websites using a bug tracking system (JIRA), re-testing fixes and verifying as required.
  • Alert System: Detect and alert other members of the Web Archiving Team to problems with the quality of archived websites that cause particular concern.
  • Support Services: Support the web archiving process and work with the team to ensure a smooth archiving lifecycle from preparation to publication.
  • Data Management: Accurately update an in-house database.
  • Capture and QA Tools: Use specialist software like Webrecorder (Conifer) and ScreamingFrog to capture and QA websites.
  • Project Support: Other project and service support as required.
  • Technical Knowledge: Demonstrable understanding of web archiving processes and enthusiasm for web technologies and content preservation.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with web capture technology and handling WARC files, and knowledge of technological limitations of web archiving tools.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent IT skills including proficiency in MS Office applications, databases, and online collaborative tools.
  • Lifelong Learning: Ability to learn new skills and communicate complex technical information clearly.
  • Digital Preservation: Experience with digital archiving and digital preservation software, tools, and methodologies.

This is a full-time post with opportunities for flexible working arrangements.
