About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Estates Net Zero Delivery Manager to join our Sustainability Team at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Trust's ambition to achieve a Net Zero Carbon Estate by 2030.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior leadership to a team of Sustainability Engineers and Project Managers in the production and delivery of the Estates Decarbonisation Strategy.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop work packages, identify funding sources, and manage project delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Capital Delivery Team to ensure capital projects align with the Estates Decarbonisation Strategy.
  • Manage a programme of regular energy-related audits to support the identification and prioritization of potential schemes.
  • Support the Estates Energy Team in delivering regular reports on progress against Estates decarbonisation targets.
  • Proactively manage delegated budgets and procure materials and services to achieve cost improvement.
  • Author and manage Estates-related policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with third-party organizations to support the delivery of the Estates Decarbonisation Strategy.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate/Masters level education in Building Services, Sustainability Engineering, or a related field.
  • Management qualification such as ILM level 5, 7, or MBA.
  • Formal project or programme management qualifications such as PRINCE2 Practitioner or Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner.
  • Extensive experience in engineering services and estates decarbonisation/Net Zero.
  • Proficient in developing long-term strategies and plans for Estate improvement and business development.
  • Experienced in managing projects in line with fixed programmes, agreed budgets, and government best practice.
  • Significant senior management experience in leading teams in the delivery of construction or engineering-related projects.
  • Experience in managing budgets and procuring services using traditional quotation and tender processes.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and passion for delivering engineering solutions to achieve Estates Net Zero by 2030.
  • Understanding of specialized practices, policies, and procedures related to Estates, building, and engineering installations.
