Medical Secretary for Haematology Department

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to join our Haematology department at Wycombe Hospital. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to a team of consultants and associated clinical staff, ensuring the efficiency of front-line services.

The ideal candidate will have experience of managing a discrete body of work, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines. They will also possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively with highly confidential data.

The role will involve coordinating referrals and new appointments, liaising with patients, and providing first-point-of-contact support to the Consultants' office. The successful candidate will also be required to work as part of a team, providing support to colleagues and maintaining an organized view of clinics.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide administrative support to a team of consultants and associated clinical staff

Person specification

Education, qualifications & training

  • GCSE standard including English and maths/computer studies or equivalent

Experience

  • Experience of managing a discrete body of work to ensure timescales are met
  • Experience of word processing and audio-typing
  • Ability to work with highly confidential data and maintain patient confidentiality

Skills, abilities & knowledge

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent written and telephone communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize busy workload
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Trust Information Systems (e.g. CRS)
