Job Overview

You will provide administrative support to a team of Consultant Oncologists, coordinating clinic management, referrals, and new appointments. You will be the first point of contact for patients and consultants, requiring strong communication and organizational skills.

Your duties will include:

  • Organizing consultant clinics and coordinating with medical secretaries
  • Managing workload, prioritizing tasks, and liaising with other staff members
  • Providing sensitive and professional service to patients and colleagues
  • Covering for colleagues on leave and managing their workloads

You will also be responsible for:

  • Word processing and audio typing
  • Sorting incoming mail and electronic correspondence
  • Communicating with external trusts for patient care
  • Varying office duties, including photocopying, printing, and answering telephone calls

Essential Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • English GCSE or equivalent qualification
  • RSA typing qualification or proven experience
  • Experience of secretarial/administrative work and word processing/audio typing

Desirable criteria include knowledge of medical terminology, customer care experience, and experience working within the NHS/GP practice.
