Barnardo's is seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our team as a Children's Rights and Advocacy Worker. This role is a critical part of our Independent Children's Rights and Advocacy (ICRAS) Service, which provides support and advocacy to children in secure settings.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver independent advocacy and support to children in secure settings, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are respected.
- Work closely with children to understand their needs, concerns, and aspirations, and provide tailored support to empower them to make informed decisions.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including social workers, teachers, and healthcare professionals, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting children.
- Develop and maintain relationships with children, families, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and support.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote the rights and well-being of children in secure settings.
- Experience of working with children and young people in secure settings, preferably in a advocacy or support role.
- Strong understanding of children's rights, advocacy, and safeguarding principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, families, and other professionals.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the needs of children and the service.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and training to ensure expertise in advocacy, safeguarding, and children's rights.
