Mental Health Ward Manager

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Deputy Ward Manager to join our team at Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced mental health professional to take on a leadership role and contribute to the delivery of high-quality care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and professional leadership to the multidisciplinary team, ensuring that patients receive person-centered care that meets their needs and preferences.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and carers, promoting a culture of openness, empathy, and respect.
- Work collaboratively with the ward manager and other senior staff to develop and implement policies, procedures, and strategies that improve patient outcomes and staff well-being.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of care pathways, guidelines, and protocols that promote best practice and evidence-based care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and evaluations to ensure that our services are safe, effective, and responsive to patient needs.
- Supervise and mentor staff, providing guidance, support, and feedback to enhance their skills and confidence.
Requirements
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a mental health nurse.
- Post-registration experience in a mental health setting, preferably in a leadership or management role.
- Leadership and management qualifications, such as the Leadership Academy's 'Leading Change' program.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A commitment to continuous professional development, with a desire to stay up-to-date with best practice and research in mental health care.
