Job Title: Learning Support Assistant Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and professional Learning Support Assistant Specialist to join Swalcliffe Park School at the secondary level.

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who is a team player, with the ability to use initiative and be adaptable and flexible in their approach to work, possessing excellent interpersonal, communication and IT skills.

About Us

Swalcliffe Park School provides specialist residential education and care for approximately 70 secondary-aged boys (10-19 years old) all of whom are on the Autism Spectrum. We offer excellent working conditions in a beautiful environment, including paid school holidays, opportunities for career development and staff training.

About the Role

The successful candidate will support Key Stage 3 and/or 4 or 5 students in a range of learning situations both in school and within the community. They will collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure that the school maintains an Outstanding Ofsted judgement for the quality of education and care provided for all students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting students with homework and assignments outside the classroom setting
  • Assisting students with revision and access arrangements for exams
  • Providing support in various learning activities to enhance students' opportunities for independence and social inclusion, either onsite or in the community
  • Fulfilling the role of key worker for nominated students, as well as participating in the duty and cover rota at breaks and lunchtimes
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements of the Education Team, utilizing risk assessments and safe methods of working
  • Implementing policies, procedures, and practices for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children effectively within SPS Education Team, along with relevant Local Safeguarding Children Board policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • A minimum of GCSE Level education, including Mathematics and English at Grade 4 (formerly C) or above or equivalent
  • An interest and experience of working with children, young people, and/or adults with Autism and associated language/communication difficulties
  • Experience of working within either an educational setting or youth and community work environment
  • Proficiency in IT skills, including database, word processing, PowerPoint, and email
  • A full driving licence and eligibility to drive a school vehicle to transport students to community-based activities
Estimated Salary Range:

£25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
