Red Snapper Recruitment Limited is recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading organization in Sandwell, for x2 Housing Safety Enforcement Officers. The purpose of this role is to conduct enforcement activities related to private sector rented accommodation, focusing on tackling rogue landlords who exploit vulnerable communities.
Main Responsibilities- Identify and target primarily flats and HMOs over commercial premises within the Cape Hill area of Smethwick, researching ownership and responsibility, and arranging proactive inspections.
- Conduct inspections of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) using the Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS) to identify disrepair, non-compliance with local and statutory requirements, and breaches of management standards.
- Collaborate with key partners, including the Police, Fire and Rescue, Immigration, HMRC, and others, to ensure residents are safeguarded and provided with safe accommodation.
- Prepare papers and legal statements, and represent the client in First Tier Tribunal-Property Chamber (Residential Property) appeals, providing expert witness evidence.
- A HNC in construction, a degree in Environmental Health, or a related subject, with at least 2 years' experience in Private Sector Housing regulation.
- Knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), and local authorities' regulatory and enforcement powers in relation to HMOs and private sector housing conditions.
