Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Atkore. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, minimizing risks, and adhering to health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Train and communicate with employees on health and safety protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage waste disposal, emissions, and effluent discharge to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate emergency response efforts and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing legislation and regulations to ensure our organization remains compliant.
  • Focus on employee well-being and develop initiatives to promote a healthy work environment.
  • Continuously improve our safety and environmental performance by benchmarking against industry best practices and integrating innovative methods and technologies.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure EHS standards are met and to support the promotion of EHS improvements.
  • Set EHS compliance objectives and ensure operational targets are achieved.
  • Develop and implement an integrated QMS and EHS Management System, ensuring it is implemented and internal audits are completed.
  • Establish and maintain controls and documentation procedures.
  • Assist with customer auditors and support the execution of corrective actions and compliance with customers' specifications.
  • Ensure external third-party accreditation to relevant standards is completed to a satisfactory level of compliance.
  • Collate and analyze performance data and KPIs against defined parameters and ensure alignment to the business SDP's and TTI's.
  • Investigate EHS incidents and record them in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all operations have suitable and sufficient risk assessments, SWPs, and SOPs, and that they are regularly reviewed.
  • Conduct routine site tours to ensure all safety, fire, security, and environmental standards are being complied with.
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity.
  • Audit production, keeping an eye out for any unsafe behaviors or breaks in regulations.
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
  • Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers.
  • In-depth knowledge of legislation and procedures.
  • Create safety plans that include suggested improvements to existing.
  • Liaise with law enforcement and other investigators who are present at the time of a serious accident.
