Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Service Manager to join The Christie NHS Foundation Trust's Medical Physics and Engineering (CMPE) management team.

Main ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning and Service Development
  • Develop and implement long-term service strategies and policies for managed areas, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies and national healthcare guidance.
  • Lead on service planning for departments, developing and implementing long-term strategic plans for continued service development.
  • Play a key role in service planning, ensuring relevance to local and national priorities.
Service/Operational Management
  • Coordinate operational management of departments, working closely with the Clinical Director, group leaders, and other service managers and divisional management team.
  • Plan and implement strategy for operational management, ensuring delivery of performance targets within agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Maintain the directorate risk register, ensuring risks are assessed and updated, and escalated as necessary.
Service Improvement
  • Deploy change management techniques to deliver service improvement.
  • Utilize and interpret research and audit findings to aid the development of new managerial guidelines, protocols, and facilities.
  • Write and produce service improvement reports and project updates.
Financial Management & Business Planning
  • Take responsibility for and manage service budgets.
  • Lead on business planning for the directorate, ensuring an agreed performance management framework is in place to monitor delivery of the annual business plan.
  • Prepare robust business cases to enable services to remain financially stable and responsive to demands.
Human Resources Management
  • Line manage administration posts within the directorate.
  • Implement Trust strategy and policy for HR management and development, including recruitment, selection, discipline, grievance, performance appraisals, and essential training for all staff.
Requirements
  • Level 6 degree with honours.
  • Proven experience in working in an NHS environment.
  • Experience of developing business cases, managing complex services, and leading redesign and organisational change.
  • Track record of delivering against set objectives and achieving key organisational targets.
