About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our multidisciplinary team at NELFT North East London Foundation Trust as a Clinical Specialist/Mental Health Practitioner. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in the assessment and treatment of patients with chronic pain, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to identify and address psychological problems associated with chronic pain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients presenting to the Chronic Pain clinic, including the identification of psychological distress and its impact on patient engagement with the service.
  • Develop and implement specialist care plans, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care.
  • Provide consultation-liaison services to clinicians in the Chronic Pain team and relevant community teams, offering specialist advice on care, treatment, and patient management.
  • Work closely with colleagues to develop and promote the services' philosophy and framework of care delivery, taking responsibility for specific areas of policy and delivery.
  • Participate in structured clinical supervision and appraisals, and be responsible for the formal supervision and appraisal of junior staff.
  • Demonstrate clinical excellence and high standards of clinical and professional practice to other staff.
  • Report serious and untoward incidents within the department in accordance with the Trust's policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Current registration as a Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse, or other allied health professional.
  • Experience of working in Community Mental Health settings at Band 6 or above.
  • Skills in working with trauma and PTSD presentations, managing significant mental health difficulties, and demonstrating a sound knowledge and experience in relation to factors that cause psychological distress or mental health needs.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, ages, contexts, and presenting problems, reflecting the full range of clinical severity, across the full range of care settings, within the NHS.
  • Experience of working in MDTs with professionals from other disciplines and being able to work autonomously.
  • Reflective Practitioner.
