Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the multidisciplinary assessment and treatment of patients in the Chronic Pain clinic. The post-holder will work closely with the team to identify psychological problems associated with chronic pain, such as PTSD, anxiety disorders, depression, drug and alcohol problems, and psychological difficulties associated with trauma.

Main Duties of the Job

The post-holder will be responsible for assessing care needs and outcomes for patients presenting to the Chronic Pain clinic, including how psychological distress may impact on patients' engagement with the chronic pain service. They will also provide a consultation-liaison service to clinicians in the Chronic Pain team and relevant community teams, giving specialist advice on a range of care, treatment, and patient management.

About the Role

The post-holder will work with colleagues to develop and promote the services philosophy/framework of care delivery and strategic objectives, taking responsibility for specific areas of policy and delivery. They will also participate in structured clinical supervision/appraisals in accordance with the Trust's policies and procedures.

Person Specification

The post-holder will be a qualified mental health professional with experience of working in community mental health settings at band 6 or above. They will have skills in working with trauma and PTSD presentations, managing significant mental health difficulties, and assessing and managing clinical risk. They will also have a sound knowledge and experience in relation to factors that cause psychological distress or mental health needs, with evidence-based practice.
