Principal Research Physicist

This role offers a competitive salary of £80,000-£120,000 per annum. As a Principal Physicist at CCFE, you will play a crucial part in conducting and leading UKAEA research into Exhaust Experiments or Integrated Scenario Modelling. You will be responsible for performing and guiding UKAEA studies in the chosen field, supporting the UKAEA programme to design STEP and other experimental devices.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct and lead research projects in tokamak-plasma physics, with a focus on the relevant field of research.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with internal and external collaborators, providing strategic advice to senior UKAEA management.
- Represent UKAEA at international meetings, promoting the organization's research and objectives.
In addition, you will co-supervise and develop placement and PhD students. A PhD or equivalent in physics, engineering, or a closely-related discipline is required. The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of tokamak-plasma physics, substantial research experience, and an excellent publication record.
