Compensation: £90,000 - £110,000 per annum.

The Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE) is seeking a highly experienced Principal Physicist to play a pivotal role in conducting and leading UKAEA research into either Exhaust Experiments or Integrated Scenario Modelling. This position offers an excellent opportunity to perform and lead studies in the chosen field, supporting the design of STEP and other national and international experimental devices.

About the Role:
In this senior research position, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships with internal and external collaborators. You will also advise senior UKAEA management on strategy in the research field and represent UKAEA at international meetings.

Responsibilities:
* Co-supervise and develop placement and PhD students
* Perform and lead UKAEA research into Exhaust Experiments or Integrated Scenario Modelling
* Develop and maintain partnerships with internal and external collaborators
* Advise senior UKAEA management on strategy in the research field
* Represent UKAEA at international meetings

Requirements:
* PhD or equivalent in physics, engineering, or a closely-related discipline
* Broad knowledge of tokamak-plasma physics with emphasis on the relevant field of research
* Substantial research experience, international recognition, and an excellent publication record in the field of research
* Experience in leading an interdisciplinary team of senior and junior researchers in an international research environment
