Job Description

Job Title: Public Health Principal

Location: Remote/Hybrid

Job Type: Contract/Temporary

Duration: 3 months (initially)

IR35 Status: Inside

We are currently supporting one of our local authority clients to recruit a dynamic and skilled interim Public Health Principal, who will lead on the delivery of the public health workplan for babies, children, and young people (BCYP).

This is a varied and fast-paced agenda so will require someone who has previously worked within a public health team covering babies, children and young people to be able to hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing an action plan for the Council's BCYP strategy and monitoring the impact of implementation
  • Leading on the development and implementation of an infant feeding strategy, working across the system to increase breast feeding rates, including pre-birth and introduction to solids
  • Leading on healthy start, oral health and healthy weight for babies, children and young people, including providing Public Health input to local clinical pathway redesign
  • Developing and managing relationships with primary care to improve partnership working and co-ordination on the health of babies, children and young people
Experience and Skills Required:
  • Must have previously worked at Public Health Principal level or similar covering children and young people
  • Excellent communicator and relationship builder with partners and providers
  • Infant feeding experience would be desirable but not essential
  • A Masters or degree in Public Health would be beneficial but is not essential
