Job Summary

The Personal Support Worker provides personalized support and homemaking services to clients and families within the framework of VON Canada (Ontario) policies, procedures, and standards. This role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to meet the needs of clients and promote their independence and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate client needs to determine the required level of support and care.
  • Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
  • Provide personal care services, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as homemaking tasks such as light housekeeping and meal preparation.
  • Monitor and maintain client safety and well-being, reporting any concerns or changes to supervisors or healthcare professionals.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care and support.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CCA Certification in Nova Scotia or equivalent.
  • Must have a current Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR level C Certificate, if applicable to the work being performed.
  • Some household management experience and experience working with elderly or ill individuals or children.
Working Conditions

This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in this role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
