About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Sleep Team as an Assistant Sleep Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care in sleep medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and technical support to the sleep team, including downloading and checking Home Sleep Study (HSS) equipment for accuracy, and cleaning and maintaining equipment as per hospital and manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Initiate Actigraphy studies as per Consultant Technologist/Sleep Consultant request, utilizing effective communication skills to assist patients and instruct them in documentation requirements.
  • Document patient details and equipment as per department guidelines, ensuring preservation of patient studies and addressing any equipment issues.
  • Complete patient observations, wire-up, and perform patient bio-calibrations prior to patients' Polysomnography (PSG) and Daytime Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT).
  • Maintain, clean, and sterilize EEG electrodes and PSG/MSLT equipment for overnight and daytime tests.
  • Participate in mandatory training and updates, and take responsibility for identifying own learning and development needs within the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF).
Requirements
  • 5 GCSEs grades A-C including Maths, English, and Science (or equivalent)
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrate commitment to further learning and personal development
  • At least 12 months of experience within a healthcare environment
  • Flexible approach to meet the needs of the service, including early or late shifts and travel across site if required
