About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Sleep Technician to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As an Assistant Sleep Technician, you will play a vital role in providing administrative and technical support to our sleep team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in sleep medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide essential administrative support to the sleep team, including downloading and checking Home Sleep Study (HSS) equipment for accuracy, ensuring timely completion and return of equipment as per hospital and manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of HSS equipment, including Actigraphy studies, and ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of equipment as per hospital and manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge, skills, and competencies as an Assistant Sleep Technician within a specific clinical setting, including proficiency in administering HSS equipment and wiring up overnight Polysomnography (PSG) and Daytime Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) patients.
  • Collaborate with the sleep team to ensure effective communication with patients and other healthcare professionals, responding to questions and queries about HSS equipment and services.
  • Participate in mandatory training and updates, as required, to maintain knowledge and skills in sleep medicine and technology.

Requirements

  • 5 GCSEs grades A-C, including Maths, English, and Science, or equivalent.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate commitment to further learning and personal development.
  • At least 12 months of experience within a healthcare environment.
  • Flexible approach to meet the needs of the service, including early or late shifts and travel across site if required.
