About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Sleep Technician to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As an Assistant Sleep Technician, you will play a vital role in providing administrative and technical support to our sleep team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in sleep medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide essential administrative support to the sleep team, including downloading and checking Home Sleep Study (HSS) equipment for accuracy, ensuring timely completion and cleaning of equipment as per hospital and manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of HSS, Polysomnography (PSG), and Daytime Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) equipment, adhering to American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge, skills, and competencies as an Assistant Sleep Technician within a specific clinical setting, with full training and support provided.
  • Interact with patients and healthcare professionals in a professional capacity, responding to questions and queries about HSS equipment and services.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new procedures and protocols to improve patient care and outcomes.

Requirements

  • 5 GCSEs grades A-C including Maths, English, and Science (or equivalent)
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrate commitment to further learning and personal development
  • At least 12 months of experience within a healthcare environment
  • Flexible approach to meet the needs of the service
  • Ability to work early or late shifts and travel across site if required
