About the Role

Vallum Associates is seeking an experienced Pricing Director to lead and grow our Pricing function. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing pricing strategies that drive business growth and profitability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Pricing Strategy Development
    • Develop and implement pricing strategies that align with business objectives
    • Conduct market research and analysis to inform pricing decisions
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure pricing strategies are aligned with business goals
  • Pricing Process Management
    • Oversee the end-to-end pricing process, including policy, tool suite, inflation studies, control processes, and roadmap
    • Manage actuarial resourcing to support the underwriting referrals workflow
    • Provide leadership on deal pricing, rate, price adequacy, binder deep dives, and horizon scanning
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Provide technical leadership and challenge to the business
    • Coach and develop the analyst team
    • Manage performance and ensure the team is aligned with business objectives
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including capital providers, coverholders, and brokers
    • Communicate pricing strategies and results to stakeholders


Requirements

  • Qualifications
    • Qualified member of the Institute of Actuaries or equivalent
  • Experience
    • Pricing experience essential
    • Experience in and comfortable using programming languages such as SQL, Python, and VBA
  • Skills
    • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
    • Proven management experience, adept at negotiating, prioritizing, and delegating
    • Commercial mindset and a culture of integrity, accountability, high-performance, and teamwork
