About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled HR professional to join our team as an Academy HR Director. As a key member of our HR team, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support on HR-related matters, including policies, procedures, employment legislation, employee relations, recruitment, engagement, performance management, training, development, statutory compliance, organizational design, and talent management.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR, with experience working in a unionized environment. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust-based relationships with senior management, line managers, and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive people plans to foster an engaged and productive workforce.
  • Lead talent mapping, development, succession planning projects, ensuring they align with business and HR strategies.
  • Manage casework (absence, disciplinary, and grievance), ensuring optimal outcomes while mitigating associated risks.
  • Establish and maintain open communication channels with management and employees, actively participating in key meetings.
  • Drive performance management and appraisal processes, ensuring maximum completion and development plan actioning.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • CIPD qualified or working towards certification.
  • Good knowledge of UK Employment law.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is desirable.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable communication and influencing skills.
