Consultant in General Adult Community Psychiatry

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Consultant in General Adult Community Psychiatry to join our team at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to work in our General Adult Community Services team. As a Consultant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients with mental health conditions, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical leadership and expertise to the team, ensuring high-quality patient care and outcomes.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Conduct assessments, diagnoses, and treatment of patients with mental health conditions.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
- Participate in clinical governance activities, contributing to the improvement of patient care and services.
- Engage in research and audit activities, promoting evidence-based practice and innovation in mental health care.
- Hold a medical qualification (e.g., MBBS, equivalent) and a Licence to Practise.
- Be a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
- Have a CCT in Psychiatry or be on the Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
- Have Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or be able to obtain approval before starting the post.
- Have excellent clinical skills, knowledge, and experience in General Adult Psychiatry.
- Be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
- Additional clinical qualification.
- Experience of medicine outside psychiatry (e.g., general practice, medicine).
- Teaching experience.
- Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the post within the NHS or comparable service.
