Job Title: Consultant in General Adult Community Psychiatry

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to work in our General Adult Community Services team, providing high-quality care to patients with mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality patient care and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, working closely with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and appraise junior medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
  • Participate in research and audit projects, contributing to the improvement of patient care and services.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the General Medical Council's Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or ability to obtain approval before starting post.
  • Excellent clinical skills, knowledge, and experience in general adult psychiatry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, communicating clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience of supervising and appraising junior medical staff.
