About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Service Controller to join our team at Flannery Plant Hire. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet of plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance and breakdowns of our fleet of plant, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and repaired in a timely manner.
  • Lead by example and ensure that all company procedures and standards are met, promoting a culture of safety and excellence within the team.
  • Responsible for ensuring safe working practices are adhered to at all times, including conducting risk assessments and daily checks.
  • Supervise and manage a team of engineers, fitters, and other team members, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Oversee orders for spares and consumables, ensuring that all purchases are made in line with company authorization limits and within budget.
  • Manage relationships with the Fleet & Plant Supply Chain, ensuring that all interactions are professional and courteous.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in the Fleet & Plant industry, identifying opportunities to improve business performance and implement new processes.
  • Line manage immediate team members, ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Take ownership of breakdowns from customers, ensuring that a fast and reliable solution is found.
  • Oversee damages incurred on site, ensuring that re-charges are managed efficiently to protect the company's bottom line.
  • Prioritize the repair of equipment that is scheduled to go on-hire, ensuring that all deadlines are met.
  • Oversee daily workshop activities, including ordering of parts and escalations from customers.
  • Supervise the workshop facilities and equipment, ensuring that all areas are clean and well-maintained.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a service controller, service coordinator, or similar role within the plant hire, construction, or heavy machinery industry.
  • Strong understanding of plant machinery, including maintenance requirements and common repair issues.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively liaise with engineers, site teams, and management.
  • Competency in using service management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and effectively, minimizing equipment downtime.
  • High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in record-keeping and reporting.
