Clinical Expert in Community Mental Health
3 weeks ago
Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to showcase clinical expertise in a variety of areas within our Community Mental Health Team. The role is well-supported, with a cohesive team of nurses, OTs, Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, and Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners. There are opportunities for teaching, management, and quality improvement.
Staff are currently being trained in Open Dialogue, a new approach to working that has brought a refreshing change of perspective for staff working in the CMHT. This new approach is likely to lead to improved wellbeing for both staff and patients.
Kent is a large county with a strong rural history, offering a unique backdrop for personal and professional development. The strategic position has left its mark with many important historical sites, and close links with London make it an ideal location for those seeking a balance between work and life.
Main Duties of the Job
- Provide medical input as required to patients under care of the Community Mental Health Team and attend CPAs for enhanced patients, providing urgent assessment and advice as needed.
- Lead on screening of new referrals to the team, with rotational responsibility between Consultants.
- Actively participate in service and team evaluation, planning future service developments.
- Empower the team to resolve local issues using quality improvement tools and methods, without needing permission.
- Manage, appraise, and give professional supervision to junior medical staff, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
- Participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and, as appropriate, for the whole mental health service.
- Join the Consultant on-call rota, with a 1:30 non-residential rota, remunerated with a 3% category A supplement and 0.5 PA in addition to 10 PA sessions.
