Data Centre Engineering Operations Chief Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Engineering Operations Chief Engineer to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our Data Centre Engineering Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data centres, ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment is functioning at peak efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management: Lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the efficient operation of our data centres.
- Performance Benchmarking: Establish and maintain performance benchmarks for critical facility operations and maintenance, conducting analyses and preparing reports as needed.
- On-Site Management: Oversee the on-site management of shift technicians, senior shift technicians, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure seamless operations.
- Critical System Management: Manage and oversee the operation and maintenance of critical systems, including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, and building monitoring systems.
- Data Centre Capacity Planning: Develop and implement data centre capacity plans to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
- Design and Build-Out: Assist in the design and build-out of new facilities to ensure alignment with Amazon's data centre standards.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Customer Service: Deliver high-quality service to customers, ensuring all demands are met.
- Asset and Inventory Management: Manage and maintain accurate records of assets and inventory.
- Emergency Response: Respond to out-of-hours emergency calls as a second-level escalation point for data centre facilities-related issues or failures.
