Clinical Psychologist in Children's Renal Service

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team in the Children's Renal Service. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in clinical health psychology and the impact of living with health conditions. The role will involve working closely with the medical service multidisciplinary team to provide a specialist clinical psychology service for children and young people.
Main Duties- Work with children and young people through consultation, direct work, and attending multidisciplinary clinics.
- Provide a specialist clinical psychology service for children and young people to help them better manage psychological distress and obtain better treatment outcomes.
- Work closely with the medical service multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive service.

Person Specification- Completed (or due to complete in 2024) postgraduate doctoral level DClinPsy in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- Current HCPC registration for Clinical Psychologist (or eligibility to qualify for registration in 2024).
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC.
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
- Previous training in medical psychology.
- Training in the supervision of other psychological professionals.
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies or assessment methodologies.
- Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
