Job Opportunity: Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our team in Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in working with adults with learning disabilities, mental health difficulties, and complex needs.

The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership to the Intensive Support Team, offering consultation, advice, and support to other professionals through formulation and care planning. They will also provide clinical supervision and support to other Speech and Language Therapists.

This role requires significant experience in working with adults with learning disabilities, mental health difficulties, and/or complex needs. The post holder will be expected to provide assessment, advice, and intervention to other Trust areas, including inpatient units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership to the Intensive Support Team
  • Offer consultation, advice, and support to other professionals through formulation and care planning
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to other Speech and Language Therapists
  • Assess, advise, and intervene in other Trust areas, including inpatient units

Requirements:

  • BSc in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Masters in a relevant subject (or willingness to undertake within agreed timescale)
  • Registration with HCPC
  • Recognised qualifications in specialist areas relevant to the role e.g. Dysphagia, Intensive Interaction, Talking Mats, Autism etc (or willingness to achieve within agreed timescale)
  • Clinical Supervisory Skills course
  • Trust training in Appraisal and Recruitment (or willingness to undertake within an agreed timescale)
  • Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
  • Membership of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Substantial clinical experience in own specialist area
  • Experience of leading quality improvement activities
  • Experience of leading clinical governance activities including clinical audit
  • Participation in research and development
  • Substantial experience in clinical supervision of staff
  • Substantial experience in design and delivery of training

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
