Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Peripatetic Ward Manager to join Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust. This dynamic and challenging role will involve working closely with permanent ward managers on six general rehabilitation wards to provide operational leadership to the ward teams.

Main Duties

In the absence of the substantive ward manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational line management of the team, ensuring a 24-hour, 7-day service is provided. You will also facilitate the discharge of patients to and from the community hospital, following Hospital Discharge Guidance, including the Home First ethos.

You will work with all healthcare professionals and statutory/non-statutory agencies to provide a seamless, integrated service to patients. Additionally, you will provide senior leadership during the week, with the expectation to cover service gaps as required.

As a Peripatetic Ward Manager, you will be responsible for leading and promoting training and staff development for the continued professional growth of the ward teams.

You will also be responsible for delivering high standards of nursing care, ensuring local and national policies are followed. A focus on quality of care and safety on the ward is essential, including learning from experience and leading in good practice.

You will be responsible for clinical input into eRoster management and ensuring Safer Staffing. Additionally, you will manage the allocated budget, ensuring resources are efficiently and effectively used and maintained.

Person Specification

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience of leading a team
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • Performance management experience
  • Registered Nurse
  • Recognised management qualification or evidence of working at that level

Additionally, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to address communication barriers. You will also need to be able to work flexibly to accommodate patient/service needs and have the ability to problem solve complex situations.
