Nuclear Analysis Placement Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Research Assistant in Nuclear Physics. The successful candidate will work closely with our team of nuclear analysis experts to develop and test scientific software, tools, and nuclear data.
Key Responsibilities- Perform nuclear analysis calculations and benchmarking
- Develop and test tools and codes for nuclear analysis
- Conduct experiments and analyze data
- Produce written reports and presentations on work performed
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete degree following placement
- Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
- Have the right to live and work in the UK for duration of placement
- Able to commence employment in summer
- Currently studying physics or computing focused course
- Experience with computer programming such as Python, C, or Fortran
- Competent and confident using mathematics to solve problems
- Knowledge of data analysis techniques
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
- Basic research skills i.e. use of journals
- Knowledge of STFC/ISIS
- Knowledge of nuclear physics
- Knowledge/awareness of Monte Carlo Methods
- Knowledge/awareness of radiation and radiation safety
- Awareness of high performance computing
- Research experience as part of larger project
