About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to join the Westinghouse European D&D organisation as a Head of Waste Management, overseeing a team of waste management experts and radiation protection advisors.

  • Project Delivery: Responsible for delivering waste management and radiation protection aspects of client projects at UK nuclear sites, ensuring a client-centric approach.
  • Business Development: Collaborates with Westinghouse Global Sales organisation to identify new opportunities in the waste management market, driving long-term growth.
  • Technical Input: Provides technical expertise to the SMART Project and participates in related stakeholder discussions.
  • Team Management: Works closely with all Westinghouse functions and departments to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Line Management: Oversees the UK Waste Management Team.
  • Strategic Direction: Develops the function in line with future growth opportunities.
  • Resource Planning: Plans and recruits resources to meet strategic and project requirements.
  • Team Development: Mentors and coaches team members to enable personal and team development.
  • Training and Development: Implements SQEP assessments, technical training, and career progression.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with EHSS and Quality teams to ensure delivery meets all required standards and expectations.
Requirements:
  • Leadership Experience: Experienced leader with a nuclear waste management or technical background.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and a coaching style of leadership.
  • Nuclear Network: An established network of personal contacts with key UK nuclear clients would be beneficial.
Location and Travel:

The role can be based at our offices at Westlakes Science Park in Cumbria or at our Springfields site near Preston. Occasional travel throughout the UK and Europe may be required to support projects.

Estimated Salary: £100,000 - £130,000 per annum, depending on experience.
