Speech and Language Therapist Lead Position:

Doucecroft School is a specialist co-educational institution providing education and support to children and young people with autism and complex needs, aged 5-19 years.

About the Role:

This permanent position involves delivering high-quality speech and language therapy services to pupils with ASD, Learning Difficulties, and associated Mental Health needs.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team comprising Occupational Therapists, Clinical/Educational Psychologists, and other clinical staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of pupils' communication needs
  • Develop and implement targeted interventions to improve communication outcomes
  • Collaborate with teaching and care staff to establish and review pupil-centred goals
  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions, as required
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and annual reviews
  • Provide training to enhance colleagues' skills in effective communication with autistic individuals
  • Supervise less experienced therapists and therapy students

Requirements:

A recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification is essential. Theoretical knowledge and practical experience of working with individuals with severe learning disabilities or autism are also necessary.

A confident, caring, and proactive attitude, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, are expected from the ideal candidate.

Compensation:

$50,000 - $60,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
