Position Summary
This role demands a versatile chemist who will be integral to the R&D division, focusing on the innovation and enhancement of both new and existing products within the company's offerings.
The responsibilities include:
- Improving current products to enhance manufacturing efficiency, potentially reducing component count or labor requirements.
- Creating prototypes of new products for client presentations and compliance certification.
- Developing comprehensive work instructions for new products and conducting training sessions for staff.
- Updating legacy work instructions to align with current standards.
- Conducting risk assessments for various operational processes.
- Collaborating with the operations manager and health & safety manager to evaluate processes for safety and efficiency.
- Testing products on machinery for friction, electrostatic discharge, and impact sensitivity.
- Performing audits of chemical and explosive storage facilities on-site.
- Safely incinerating waste materials in accordance with established waste management protocols.
Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a PhD in Chemistry.
- Have a minimum of one year of experience in a commercial setting.
- Team leadership experience is advantageous.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving production challenges.
- Experience in drafting documentation and work instructions for new products.
