About the Role

As an Ophthalmic Scrub Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, you will be an integral member of the theatre team, working closely with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.

You will be responsible for preparing patients for surgery, maintaining a safe and sterile environment, and assisting surgeons during procedures. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in ophthalmic care, while working in state-of-the-art surgical facilities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Preparing patients for eye surgery, including administering medications and ensuring they are comfortable and prepared for the procedure.
  • Maintaining a clean and sterile environment in the operating theatre, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Providing skilled assistance to surgeons during eye surgery procedures, including passing instruments and maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and effective patient care.

Key Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised qualification in Ophthalmic Scrub Nursing or Operating Department Practice (ODP).
  • Significant experience working as an Ophthalmic Scrub Nurse or ODP in a fast-paced hospital setting.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to industry standards.
