Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Director of Finance to join an award-winning finance team at Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT). This is a senior leadership role responsible for the day-to-day delivery and continuous improvement of the finance directorate, ensuring a high-quality provision of service is achieved while maintaining KMPT's history of a strong financial position.

This role will be a part of helping the Trust achieve its ambitions to transform mental health services across Kent and Medway by delivering significant transformation and improvement through close collaboration with Directorates and senior leaders across the organisation and by shaping the financial strategy and planning for the Trust.

Hybrid working - currently 40% office based, 60% home based.

Main Duties of the Job

As the Deputy Director of Finance, you will be responsible for the delivery of effective, timely and accurate financial performance information for both operational and strategic purposes, leading on the development of business planning across the Trust and with oversight of all aspects of financial management.

You will have a track record of delivery and resilience, with the ability to question and advise operational and clinical colleagues, translating complex finance issues to non-finance individuals. You will have a system-wide focus when it comes to patient care, leading in the development of the Trust's financial strategy, ensuring long-term deliverable plans are agreed which enable financial sustainability.

As an integral part of the senior leadership team, the role will involve deputising for the Chief Finance and Resources Officer when required, covering the executive portfolio which includes Finance, IT, IG, Contracting, Performance and Information and Estates and Facilities, as well as continuous liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including reporting at Board level when required.

Person Specification
  • CCAB or CIMA qualification
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Experience
  • Extensive post-qualification experience
  • Significant experience as Deputy or Associate/Assistant Director of Finance in a large complex organisation
  • Significant staff management experience
  • Experience of report writing and presentations for Board and Executive use
  • Experience of the Financial Planning process
Desirable
  • Commercial sector experience is highly valued
  • Experience of the NHS Financial Planning process
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the NHS and the provider sector
