Senior Contracts Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Contracts Engineer to join our Team Recruitment team in Aberdeen.

Job Purpose:

To provide expert support to our business in all areas of contract management, ensuring the protection and enhancement of our commercial interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement contract strategies to minimize risk and maximize cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and evaluate tender submissions, including commercial and contractual evaluation models.
  • Prepare and present contract documentation, including rate negotiations and claim/variation agreements.
  • Provide day-to-day liaison and advice on commercial and contractual matters to personnel within the business lines.
  • Research and resolve commercial/contractual issues, referring to company Legal, Finance, Tax, and Insurance advisers as necessary.
  • Maintain awareness of market intelligence relevant to vendors providing services to the company.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators to measure contractor performance.
  • Use commercial expertise to create significant savings through mitigation of claims from contractors or preparation of claims against contractors/other parties.

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience in establishing major contracts from conception to close-out with an oil & gas industry operator.
  • Experience of establishing contracts for areas outside the UK, with a proven ability to understand country-specific terms and conditions.
  • Attention to detail, organized, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent data analysis skills, negotiation, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and make decisions, with high-level literacy/report writing and numeracy skills.
  • Experience in conducting meetings with contractor and operator personnel up to senior management level.
  • Able to work under pressure and sometimes severe time constraints, with overseas travel possible.
