Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Buyer to join our team to support the procurement process for a successful Painting and Decorating contractor. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sourcing and purchasing materials, products, and services for commercial fit-out projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and Purchasing: Assist in sourcing and purchasing materials, products, and services at competitive prices, ensuring timely delivery to meet project deadlines.
  • Supplier Management: Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and assist in identifying new suppliers, ensuring they meet our quality and compliance standards.
  • Procurement Administration: Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and track costs against budgets, ensuring procurement activities align with financial objectives.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained for ongoing projects and anything placed in storage.
  • Plant Equipment Management: Coordinate the scheduling of hired-in and owned plant equipment, monitoring cost effectiveness of plant hire and ensuring all bought plant is maintained and accurate records are kept.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in procurement or a related field.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Skills: Strong communication and negotiation skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
