Children's Residential Care Team Leader Position

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Care Team Leader to join our team at Swanton Care & Community Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the day-to-day management of a shift, providing practical assistance and emotional support to empower their team in supporting children with complex medical needs.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the management of a shift, providing practical assistance and emotional support to the team.
- Lead the team in supporting children with complex medical needs, including those with epilepsy, gastrostomy care, tracheotomy care, ventilator dependency, learning disability, communication and mobility support needs.
- Coordinate the shift, allocating child supervision and prioritizing care needs.
- Act as a role model, demonstrating empathy and sensitivity to others, and creating a safe, clean and secure environment for all children and relatives.
- Take overall responsibility for ensuring the running of the home is to its highest possible standard.
- Support the management team in evaluating ongoing care needs and child development.
- Develop a personal development plan with staff team for whom hold supervisory responsibility.
- Act as a mentor during induction, orientation for all staff and delegate support for new members of the team.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in childcare or social work.
- Effective communicator, both verbally and written.
- Knowledge/experience of children with complex needs relevant to the service.
- Displays initiative and approachability.
- Displays sensitivity and awareness to multi-cultural issues.
- Have knowledge of current legislation.
- Ability to coordinate a shift and prioritize care needs.
- Ability to work under own initiative.
- Ability to coordinate and manage unexpected situations.
Desirable
- Experience of disability, medical, mental health and/or associated complex needs relevant to the service.
- Experience of administering medication.
- Ability and commitment to manage and support staff to enable cohesive and effective team working.
- Ability to work on your own initiative, within agreed procedures and parameters.
- Ability to establish effective communication with children, staff, relatives, external agencies and other professionals.
