Molecular Biology and Lab Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Molecular Biology and Lab Operations Lead to join our R&D team at Serna Bio. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the expansion of our in-house molecular biology and cell culture work, accelerating our R&D capabilities and developing our lab operations.
Key Responsibilities- Method Development and Improvement: Implement and improve methods for executing cell-based and in vitro assays at scale, including novel method development and scaling existing technologies.
- Sequencing and Genomics: Implement and improve sequencing protocols and platforms, participate in collaborative genomic projects, and develop project-specific experimental strategies, techniques, and procedures.
- Lab Operations and Administration: Oversee a range of duties supporting and developing laboratory operations and administration for sequencing workflows, including inventory management and SOP writing.
- Sample Processing and Library Preparation: Independently work on sample processing, library preparation workflows (e.g., RNA-seq), and other molecular cloning and mammalian cell culture tasks.
- Technical Expertise: Minimum MSc with at least 6 years' experience in a biotech or CRO working with sequencing-based workflows and readouts. Proven hands-on experience with NGS library preparation, RNASeq library prep, and other NGS methods.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent time and project management, communication, and team working skills. Ability to work in complexity, manage different projects, and deliver to defined timelines.
- Bonus Skills: Good technical expertise applying chemical probing methods, experience with western blotting and other antibody-based techniques, and experience of developing and optimising assays for use in high-throughput studies.
