Molecular Biology and Lab Operations Specialist

Serna Bio is a pioneering preclinical drug discovery company that is revolutionizing the field of RNA biology. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Scientist to join our Stevenage-based R&D lab and contribute to our Molecular Cell Biology R&D and Operations efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement novel methods for executing cell-based and in vitro assays at scale, leveraging our cutting-edge Discovery Platform.
- Collaborate with our R&D team to develop project-specific experimental strategies, techniques, and procedures, and to interpret and model data.
- Oversee laboratory operations and administration for sequencing workflows, ensuring seamless execution and high-quality results.
- Independently work on sample processing, library preparation workflows, and other molecular cloning and mammalian cell culture tasks.
- Minimum MSc with at least 6 years' experience in a biotech or CRO working with sequencing-based workflows and readouts.
- Proven hands-on experience with NGS library preparation, particularly with single-cell sequencing library preparation, and optimising novel next-generation sequencing assays.
- Demonstrable experience in RNASeq library prep and other NGS methods, as well as basic molecular biology techniques.
- Hands-on experience with spatial transcriptomics and/or proteomics data generation.
- A passion for building process and operational excellence in the laboratory.
