Job Title: Senior Scientist - Molecular Biology

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist to join our Molecular Design and Engineering (MDE) group within the Large Molecule Discovery (LMD) department at GSK. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with matrix program teams to identify risks and liabilities to early-stage biologics using predictive models and sequence analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute molecular biology work packages to generate plasmids for expression.
  • Develop and explore innovative engineering strategies to create evolutionarily plausible variants with strong developability profiles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide strategic recommendations for molecule engineering, humanization, and de-risking.

Requirements:

  • Graduate or postgraduate degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in protein/antibody modelling and interpretation of structure data.
  • Experience in developing scripts and applications to automate data analysis to support drug discovery.
  • Basic skills in molecular biology, protein design and engineering, DNA cloning, preparation, upscaling, and analysis of sequencing results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Established experience in antibody discovery and/or design, with a broad scientific understanding of the relationship between antibody sequence/structure and function.
  • Basic experience or knowledge about bispecifics and other advanced antibody formats.
