Molecular Biology and Lab Operations Director

Serna Bio is a pioneering biotechnology company developing innovative small molecules that modulate translation and splicing by targeting RNA. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving the expansion of our in-house molecular biology and cell culture work, accelerating our R&D capabilities and developing our lab operations.
Key Responsibilities- Method Development and Improvement: Implement and improve methods for executing cell-based and in vitro assays at scale, ensuring high-quality results and efficient workflows.
- Sequencing and Genomics: Implement and improve sequencing protocols and platforms, participating in collaborative genomic projects and developing project-specific experimental strategies.
- Assay Development and Optimization: Develop and optimize assays, including cell-based and in vitro assays, for use in high-throughput studies, and oversee a range of duties supporting and developing laboratory operations and administration.
- Sample Processing and Library Preparation: Independently work on sample processing, library preparation workflows (e.g., RNA-seq), and other molecular cloning and mammalian cell culture tasks.
- Technical Expertise: Minimum MSc with at least 6 years' experience in a biotech or CRO working with sequencing-based workflows and readouts, with proven hands-on experience with NGS library preparation, RNASeq library prep, and other NGS methods.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent time and project management, communication, and team working skills, with the ability to work in complexity, manage different projects, and deliver to defined timelines.
- Lab Management: High-level lab management skills, including SOP writing, inventory management, and a passion for building process and operational excellence in the laboratory.
